Issues Ministry
Biblically faithful input and analysis for renewal
Other classic modes of renewal won't progress well if the denomination is rent by division or wracked with unfaithfulness or disobedience. Thus PFR works tirelessly in its Issues Ministries to strengthen church governance and straighten its paths.
| "PFR Issues Ministry believes that true, correct, biblically faithful input and analysis help our denomination counter misinformation or lack of information on crucial issues before the church." |
The PFR Issues Ministry is authorized to speak on issues matters on behalf of PFR. It is composed of PFR board members, who are pastors and elders from across the country. Meeting in person and by conference call, Issues Ministry advocates ways to do the right thing in the right way at the right time for the right reasons. It is important for PFR to operate with charity and integrity, seeking as much as possible without compromise to work in an affirmative, collaborative way with fellow Presbyterians. PFR Issues Ministry believes that true, correct, biblically faithful input and analysis help our denomination counter misinformation or lack of information on crucial issues before the church. We endeavor to do our part to shed light on the issues confronting Presbyterians in our quest to be faithful to our Lord Jesus Christ.
| "PFR Issues Ministry produces statements, analyses, and background papers on significant national issues as a service to renewal-minded Presbyterians. |
At each General Assembly, PFR helps commissioners in each Assembly committee deal with issues specific to the work of that committee. Prior to G.A., PFR helps brief and train interested commissioners and produces resources to inform anticipated major debates. PFR Issues Ministry played a key role in the defeat of Amendment 01-A in 2001-2002, which would have removed the biblically faithful wording from our Constitution. We have continued to provide the resources useful to commissioners to retain our ordination standards in 2003 and 2004. In 2005 and 2006, we provided the most timely and clear resources responding to the report of the Peace, Unity, and Purity Task Force.
